Free RCSD Programming (3rd Grade Only)

Service Description

Step into the world of environmental conservation with our exclusive, free program designed for 3rd-grade classes in the Rochester City School District. This hands-on educational experience gives students a chance to connect with wildlife, learn about the environment, and discover the importance of conservation in a fun, interactive way! This program is sponsored by The Avangrid Foundation. Program Highlights: • Guided Animal Facility Tour: Students will embark on a one-hour tour of the Wild Wings facility, where they’ll learn about diverse species and discover how each animal contributes to the ecosystem. Our expert educator will share stories as to why each animal is here, as well as fascinating facts, making science come to life. • Animal Ambassador Encounter: During the tour, students will have the chance to meet one of our animal ambassadors up close. Students will be able to ask questions and learn more about the animal's behavior and role in the environment. • Hands-On Learning: Although students can not touch our live animals, students will be able to explore hands-on items such as feathers, bones, skulls, and owl pellets, which spark curiosity into animal adaptations and more. This free program offers an unforgettable experience where students not only meet real animals but also walk away with a greater understanding of our natural world and how they can make a difference. Eligibility: Exclusively available to 3rd-grade classes in the Rochester City School District.
